Quick Christmas Cards

Hey chickies, can you believe I've actually been making cards? I recently visited my sister in law, and she makes cards - so I guess I can thank her for the inspiration and mojo.

I went home and promptly decided on an image, the gorgeous Reindeer Lights from CC Designs, I must have been gone a while cause it looks like most of their images are no longer available in digi format, is that right? Shame, I love digis :)

Anyway, I decided on a real simple card layout and placed my images on my page accordingly. I wanted white space around each image for my sentiment. I ended up with these...

I grabbed my Christmas paper pads, my colour chart for my Copics and Twin Touch markers, and I sat down and coloured all 8 images in one hit - whilst watching The Walking Dead on my computer :)

My photos are a little dark so I apologise for that, been a while since I had to photograph cards and not makeup or fingernails!

These were so quick and simple. The sentiments are from Kellie Stamps. Making two of each card makes it all happen so much quicker. Plus, I just love the first pale Christmas papers that I cannot resist making multiples with it!

I quickly realised I prefer the upright design.. but these ones are cute too.
I have some more quick and simple cards to share soon, I'm still catching up on my Walking Dead so expect to see more multiples :)
Thanks for stopping by xox

Book week costumes - Angry Bird... Mike Wazowski... the Queen of Hearts Tutu

I figured I'd share these on this blog as it's technically the 'crafting' one :)
If you're reading this I hope you're all well.

This year the kids all chose their own costumes - based on Mum's sewing capabilities - and we made our own costumes. The eldest daughter Miss 8 knew straight away that she wanted to be the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. We recently took the kids to see Disney on Ice and she just loved the queen.
We decided on a tulle skirt - and based ours on the many images on google. Without following any instructions, this is what we ended up with...

I tacked the felt heart onto her plain tee, made the crown and attached it to a headband using pipecleaners. We also used another pipecleaner for the collar. Using short pieces of white tulle I simply pinned it in place. The floor-length tulle skirts do tend to tangle a bit, and yes we used a LOT of tulle to make it really poof out and to get the colours more or less opaque. She did win one of the 'best costumes' in the school :)

I had one mister 6 tell me he wanted to be an Angry Bird... okay... not really a book character, but fortunately our school is pretty free in that department. I did manage to find a tutorial using felt - for anyone that doesn't know, I love felt and have made numerous Santa Bags for all the children in our family... here's the tutorial I found. It was super simple, I did change a few bit and pieces, I added tabs to the shoulders rather then stitching them together, and added a strip of elastic at the sides. I wanted them to hang freely and as we made ours smaller, I wanted to make sure they'd fit kids of various ages and sizes. Here's my little man in his (we skipped the hat from the tutorial, it didn't turn out so well lol )

And the other mister 6 tells me he wants to be Mike Wazowski - you know, the little green monster on Monsters Inc? So in sticking with a similar felt makeup I did find a tutorial here. I wasn't entirely happy with this one though so tweaked it. I also added some quilt padding as I did in the Angry Bird. It helps to keep its shape. I also stuffed the horns and stitched them with the shoulder tabs. Also elastic sides to fit all. And here's my other little man all ready to go... complete with Monsters University cap :)

I had a lot of fun making these, we plan on making some more tulle skirts, and I did make a stack of superhero felt face masks which I'll have to round up and share on here also. xox

A couple of Cuties

Hey bloggers, been a while I know! So much for getting right back into crafting :) I've made a couple of very simple and quick cards. I've really noticed that most 8 year old girls do not care for my handmade cards lol.. so simple it is :) These are perfect for my daughter to give to her friends. I've left them sentiment free so she can use them for both birthday and for 'just because'.

These measure around 7.5 x 10 cm.. all I did was cut a card in half :) 2 for 1! Thanks for stopping by x

Love/Friendship Challenge for Bizzy Becs

Happy February 5th bloggers :) which means it's time for a new challenge over at the Bizzy Becs Store Blog. And this month is aptly...

No there's no excuse to skimp on the Valentine cards, or why not send an old friend a little something special to make them feel.. special. Is there anything better than a card in the mail!

I took the opportunity to make a wedding card.. for as some of you may know. my BFF was married on the weekend just gone and I was fortunate enough to stand by her side xx

Wedding cards allow us to break out - for those who don't usually - and add a little more than usual to our cards. I decided on a shaker card, they're a lot of fun and something a bit different.

I'm sorry but I have no idea where the image is from... the glitter is from our local $2 shop. I've also used... Green Tara Roses, Mini Rose Buds {love these!}, my little pearl hearts, satin ribbon and lace all came from Bec's Store though I don't think she stocks them any more :(

Coloured with Copics and Touch Twin Markers:
TT CG1,3,5
BG23, BG15, BG10
YR00, YR02, RV10

I hope you can all play along and spread some love and friendship this month xx

Have a Monster Day!

Hi guys... had a fabulous (and somewhat chaotic) weekend, the weather was perfect (although the sunburn on my back tells another story) the Bride looked absolutely stunning and fun was had all around! Was such a privilege to have been involved :)

A quick and simple card to share will you today, I did follow a sketch from Sketch Saturday from a few weeks ago, but sadly missed the deadline to actually enter :P
I haven't added a sentiment yet, as I'm not happy with this at all., I'm thinking the orientation would have looked better in landscape and perhaps some matte around the image? Perhaps a sentiment? Anyways...

It's bright and colourful with a cute little critter.. kid would love it? Although it sorta looks a little dirty in this pic, I assure you it's only shadows lol
Oh well.. better luck next time :P

Lil Allsorts Kira

I've dug out an oldie digi stamp today.. I *think* these images are available from All That Scraps if any of you are interested in purchasing some.
I've been catching up on some season one episodes of Orange is the New Black.. Hurry UP! Season Two!! :)
Anyhoo, while that's playing I've found a bit of time to craft at the same time, no challenges or anything like that, just some simple cards I need for my stash. Which, by the way, is really growing! I've finished all the April birthday cards, and this one will probably be for my older sister in May, so all the others I have been making are all spare. A good thing to have lying around when the kids get invited to last minute school friends birthday parties.

It was fun doing her skin a colour, the background is a mix of washi tape and ribbon.. although I don't recommend 'fussy cutting' her out! Very tedious :)

Very Early with this one :)

G'afternoon bloggers, I hope all my fellow Australian dwellers all survived our heat wave, it was fierce where I live and made all the worst with the kids home on holidays but it being far too hot to venture out too far.

I've been once again crafting up a storm, though a few have been DT projects that you will just have to wait and see. It's much nicer in my craft room now, a lot less heat means a lot less sweat! :)

I have been a long time fan of some adorable DigiStamp Boutique images which are my favourites for Mothers Day cards. Of course I do still have a few months up my sleeve before really needing to make any Mothers Day cards, but I couldn't resist this cute little bear with the huge bunch of roses {or tulips?}. This image is no longer available so I am super glad I have this one and 3 others similar saved for future use!

I am adding my card to the monthly challenge for DigiStamp Boutique.. each month any creations made with their images can go in the draw to win a £15 voucher to their site - and I would love to win!! There are so many gorgeous images that I would love to have a play with!!
Thanks for stopping by today xox

Why O Why did I ever complain about the Winter Cold??

Right here, right now.. I wish I was doing this....

I hope my fellow Aussies are keeping cool and staying out of our deadly sun. I want to craft, but it's like 500 million degrees and I'm sticking to all my papers lol.
Will try and have something to share with you all real soon x

Autumn toned Tilda... why?

Yes Why? indeed!! It's Summer down here in the island land of Australia - so why on earth was I feeling the Autumn gloom???
It's been unseasonably cold this week, typical really. As my poor little cherubs have began their annual 2 week intensive swimming lessons, it's always cold for at least a few days each year, hopefully it'll just continue to get warmer and warmer...

Anyways, I hope you've all recovered from the crazy that can come with Christmas and the New Year. We're back to 'normal' around here, DH is back at work, as mentioned the kids now have 2 weeks of swimming, which is awesome as it gives them something to look forward to during the 6 weeks holidays that we have over here, and the visiting family have all left us. Back to normal....

So, on that normal note, lets get back into card-making!!

If any of you are wondering.. I purposely put the strips of paper at either end at opposites.. make sense? :) I really enjoyed colouring these colours... though poor Tilda's looking a little too tanned and almost matching with her jumper!! hehe... lighter skin tones next time! Really must buy new light E Copics!! Actually.. I was considering getting the Promarkers skin set.. any thought on that idea??
Take care fellow bloggers x
